GDCP Dog Trainer – Antash Sheikh
Animals of all varieties have fascinated me from an early age like Ball Pythons, African Grey parrots, Monkeys, Chameleons and obviously Dogs. I have owned all of these animals at some point or another in life.
I am originally a certified nutritionist and a competitive bodybuilder. Having won a number of titles in bodybuilding and also awarded at the House Of Lords for the youngest most achieving Asian bodybuilder in England. It all started a couple days after my 15th birthday when I bought Lucky, an Alaskan Malamute, from Crewe and Maha, a Swiss Shepherd, from Devon. At the time I had no clue about training dogs or even keeping dogs. I would ask my brother for advice on what I could do because he was a dog handler. He had been working with his dog for nearly 4 years. I wanted my dog to be like my brother’s dog. But I had no idea on how to go about it. One year down the line I went to a training camp with my brother and his new dog Max, a 24 months old German Shepherd. Max just changed the way I thought about dogs and that is when I decided that I wanted to work more with dogs.
I than started going to regular training camps all over the country and travelling with my new dog Enzo (Belgian Malinois x Dutch Shepherd). Enzo was a very high drive dog suffering from separation anxiety and that was my first and only dog that I worked with as a dog handler in England. I also Participated in 3 different local trials and was placed in top 3. In 2013 my brother started his own Company/Club called Bio Freaks K9 Solutions. Where we would train dogs for a lot of different security sectors and provide them with Dual purpose dogs. BIO FREAKS K9 SOLUTIONS are the ONLY certified and internationally recognized dog trainers in Pakistan. We also had training weekends in Stoke for beginner dog handlers and GPD (General Purpose Dog). I have professionally trained Companion, Service Dogs and personal protection dogs for hundreds of clients and also had private clients like ex footballers.
I believe that dog training is about understanding the natural instincts of dogs, how they learn and how to read their body language and energy. Developing these skills will enable you to be better equipped while training your dog. When you learn what motivates your dog, be it food, their favorite toy or a game of tug, the reward is there to reinforce the desired behavior. This is how dogs learn best and what makes dog training fun for both of you.
I am very proud to be a part of GDCP now. I always feel happy and elevated while conducting training sessions held under the umbrella of GDCP.
